THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE

Therapeutic massage is a gentle technique which manipulates the body's soft tissue with flowing movements that use varying degrees of pressure and stretching. It is commonly used to induce relaxation and improve well-being.

There are five basic strokes, which derive from Swedish massage: effleurage (stroking), petrissage (kneading), friction, tapotement (percussion) and vibration. Different strokes are employed according to the body part which is being worked on and the desired effect.

BENEFITS

Therapeutic massage can have wide-ranging systemic effects, such as reducing stress and anxiety, creating a feeling of well-being, promoting positive body awareness and even increasing muscle flexibility.

"For a real treat, I go for a long, all-over body massage, which is total bliss!

Massage soothes away aches and relaxes the mind. If you can afford it, I'd recommend having a massage at least once a week."
